Amber Roberts

Amber is passionate about beauty therapy and lifelong learning. Living on a lifestyle block in South Wairarapa, Amber brings a wealth of experience to her role, having worked in the beauty industry since leaving Wairarapa College.

She has earned certificates with merit and two international diplomas from the NZ Institute of Electrolysis and Beauty Therapy.

Her experience includes working at in spas in Queenstown and Masterton – eventually buying and running her own successful beauty business. “In business you have to always be prepared for things to not go the way you expected and not stress the small stuff,” she said.

Amber’s journey to UCOL began with part-time tutoring five years earlier. It ignited her passion for teaching. Now, with her two youngest children in school, she’s fully embraced her role as a full-time lecturer, relishing the opportunity to train the next generation of beauty therapists. Amber believes in adapting her teaching style to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring they all achieve their potential.

Amber is also a student, studying for a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in psychology and communications through the Open Polytechnic. Her belief in lifelong learning is a way of life. “I think keeping my brain busy is healthy – doing things I feel like that are going to make my future better.”

She is constantly seeking to better herself and inspire those around her. Amber’s infectious enthusiasm for beauty therapy and dedication to her students make her an invaluable mentor, capable of guiding her students to success in both their personal and professional lives.
