Learn all about what’s involved in ag contracting, and get yourself work-ready. During this free one week course, you’ll get a good understanding of the range of work contracting involves, and build your skills in driving farm vehicles, basic mechanics, and farm health and safety.

This programme, including accommodation, is completely free, and there are also free meals included Monday-Friday. The course is held at Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre, just outside of Masterton in the Wairarapa, where hard-working Kiwis have developed their farming skills for over 100 years.

 Career & Study Outcomes

This course is made up of three key modules:
  • Health and Safety and first aid
  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsement, forklift OSH and F endorsement
  • Tractor driving, towing trailers and implements, and understanding the work of an agricultural contractor.

 Domestic Entry Requirements

No prior academic qualification is required, however for the six week ag contracting course you will need a full class one driver's licence. 

Participants must be physically fit and be 18 years old or over.

A verified copy of your identification

You should supply a verified copy of any of the following documents:
  • Current driver license
  • Current New Zealand passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Whakapapa statement

 Additional Costs

Meals on the weekend are self-catered at your own cost, meals during weekdays are free. Accommodation at Taratahi, including on the weekends, is free. Alternatively, participants are welcome to go home for the weekend and return by 8am Monday.
