The Regional Trades and Technology Centre has a state-of-the-art ten million dollar facility, with the latest industry-fit equipment and teaching technology, complete with an indoor space large enough to build a 3 bedroom house.
Trades falls under both the Manufacturing and Technology & Construction and Infrastructure Vocational Pathways. The Security qualifications (delivered in partnership with another provider) fall under the Social & Community Services Vocational Pathways.

UCOL’s Construction & Architecture programmes provides the industry with qualified graduates who have the essential knowledge and skills to manage projects, design and produce working drawings and to work as a Quantity Surveyor. The qualification leads to eligibility to apply for registration as a Quantity Surveyor.
UCOL’s Electrical programmes will help get your career started as an electrician or in many other jobs within the electrical field. Our industry-experienced lecturers will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to secure a job in a wide range of cutting edge, high tech industries. The electrical competency examinations are also offered through the faculty.
UCOL’s Fabrication Engineering programme provides highly practical and useful skill-based training for people already employed in the Heavy or Light Fabrication discipline of Engineering.
UCOL’s Diploma in Furniture Design and Making will teach you all about the process of designing solid timber furniture concepts and then turning them into reality. This programme is unique to New Zealand and offers students a practical, hands-on experience with lecturers that are qualified furniture makers.
UCOL’s Mechanical Engineering programme provides highly practical and useful skill-based training for people already employed in the Fitting and Machining or General Engineering discipline of Engineering.
