UCOL’s popular Free and Easy computer training course focuses on improving the foundation computer skills of learners who have been unsuccessful in their previous study.

Duration: Flexible days and hours to complete 80 hours of learning.

Monday - Friday 9am - 12pm
Monday and Tuesday 5pm - 7pm

Tuesday and Wednesday 9am - 11am, 5pm - 7pm

Monday 4pm - 6pm
Wednesday 11am - 1pm
Friday 12pm - 1pm

All students will gain the confidence to return to more tertiary study and the computer skills needed for future study or employment.

An enrolment in Free and Easy includes the completion of 80 hours foundation computer learning. It will update and refresh the essential computer skills needed in tertiary study, on the job and in daily life with the options of further study in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access. 

Select from three campus locations and drop during the next available class time that suits you. You can enrol and start on the same day. Dowload and complete the Free and Easy Enrolment form below. Course Information

The Free and Easy course covers a range of key topics that include:

Basic Windows
Starting right from the beginning, from turning the computer on, mouse and keyboard practice and understanding the workings of a Windows computer desktop. We use Windows 7 and Microsoft Office Suite, as currently in use at UCOL. Options are also available for Windows 8 and 10. You are welcome to bring your own laptop with Windows 10 software installed.

Word Processing
Using Microsoft Word to write, edit and format text, learning the skills to continue with study, like writing assignments, or to create or update your CV.

Learn how to browse and search the internet.

Learn how to set up an email account, send and receive messages and send attachments.

Spread sheets
Learn to lay out a spreadsheet and use formula in Excel to create a basic monthly budget.

PowerPoint presentations
Be introduced to PowerPoint and learn how to create a slideshow, including animating images and transition effects.

Desktop publishing
Explore Microsoft Publisher to learn elements of desktop publishing, Publisher wizards and how to insert graphics and text layout formatting.

Learn how to create and use a basic database with Microsoft Access.
