Graphics and design is a fast growing industry where you can harness your creative flair. UCOL's Academy Digital innovation Programme gives you the opportunity to work towards NCEA Level 2 whilst experiencing different opportunities within the industry. 

You will complete a range of theory and practical activities, and have the opportunity to learn more about:
  • Sketching
  • Design development
  • Design with computer graphics
  • Illustration
  • Advertising graphics

Unit Standard AS 91305 (Level 2) (Version 2) (4 Credits)
Demonstrate an understanding of methods and ideas from established practice appropriate to design.

Unit Standard AS 91310 (Level 2) (Version 2) (4 Credits)
Use drawing methods to apply knowledge of conventions appropriate to design.

Unit Standard AS 91315 (Level 2) (Version 2) (4 Credits)
Develop ideas in a related series of drawings appropriate to established design practice.

Unit Standard AS 91356 (Level 2) (Version 3) (6 Credits)
Develop a conceptual design for an outcome.

Unit Standard AS 91183 (Level 2) (Version 2) (4 Credits)
Examine how media are used to create effects in art works.

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

UCOL's Academy Digital Innovation Programme comprises 21 Credits.

This short course is part of a suite of 'Academy' programmes offered by UCOL to secondary students seeking to explore their career options while still in school. Gain practical experience and NCEA Credits.

Attendance expectations
Students must maintain appropriate attendance at both secondary school and Academy to remain enrolled in the Academy Programme.

There are no additional costs associated with this programme. Simply, bring a pen, paper and your lunch each week.
