The date for Whanganui's 2017 graduation ceremony is confirmed for Thursday 30 March 2017 at 12:30pm at the Royal Wanganui Opera House.
If you are eligible to graduate (as a result of completing your programme at UCOL), you will need to apply to graduate and confirm your address so you are able to receive your award – whether it is via post or at a ceremony. You will be sent an application form with your academic record at the conclusion of your study. Please note that if you have any outstanding student debt (e.g. course fees, library fines), UCOL may withhold your award until the debt has been cleared.
Academic dress is required for all Whanganui UCOL graduands.
Information is provided to all students who have indicated on their application forms that they will be attending graduation, via graduation packs distributed in February. These packs also contain items such as parking permits and photographer information. There are no restrictions on guest numbers at Whanganui UCOL ceremonies. Special assistance access and seating is available; please advise Whanganui UCOL at least a week before the graduation ceremony if you require a wheelchair place.
At the end of the ceremony, the official academic party and graduates exit the venue to form a procession. Guests are invited to join in on the end of the procession which will proceed to the Whanganui UCOL Campus for refreshments.
An official photographer will be present during the ceremony to take photos of graduates receiving their awards. For portrait packages the photographer will be available at the venue after the ceremony. Individuals are welcome to take photos and videos during the ceremony.
All Whanganui UCOL graduands are required to wear academic regalia (including Certificate graduands). You will receive academic regalia hire information and an order form with your initial graduation application form. Whanganui UCOL will order your academic regalia as per your form and you will be informed of dates and times for pick up. The cost for Certificate academic dress is $30, for Diploma $35, and for Graduate Diploma or Degree $64-$70. A Korowai may be worn by Māori graduands over their black Cambridge Gown.
Your academic record will be sent to you on completion of your programme and will be free of charge. If you do not receive your transcript within three months of your programme completion date please let Academic Records know by emailing them at
email@example.com. After this timeframe an additional transcript copy will cost $15.00.
