Hear one of New Zealand's highly regarded exercise physiologists speak on children, obesity and physical literacy.

You are invited to UCOL's Public Lecture Series to hear Michael Hamlin, Associate Professor at Lincoln University speak on where New Zealand children have come from and are going to in terms of obesity. 

Associate Professor Hamilin has extensive knowledge in obesity, children and physical literacy, and will share his ideas on "Stemming the tide - Childhood Obesity in New Zealand." He will draw on the theory behind fixing obesity, showing how hard it is to lose weight, and what is being done to try and curb the problem.

Associate Professor Hamlin has used his broad knowledge and expertise to promote healthier habits in schools, to educate his students and to support research in academic articles that have been cited both nationally and internationally. He has a wealth of experience in real and simulated altitude training, performance recovery, and performance measurement, and enjoys sports physical activity for its wide-ranging social and psychological benefits. He has a strong presence on the international stage and is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, Sport and Exercise New Zealand and the European College of Sports Science.
