Love sculpture, art and music?
A sculptural festival showcasing rural New Zealand life is a great excuse to take a day trip to the picturesque township of Kimbolton, north of Feilding.
Whether you're submitting an artwork to be in to win up to $5,000 in prize money, or attending Rural Art to soak up the fun and stop by Hansen's Cafe afterwards, you'll come away inspired.
Friday 27 April - An afternoon and evening for sculptors, judges and sponsors
Saturday 28 April - Rural Art Festival. Starts at 9am
The village of Kimbolton is located 20 minute's drive north of Feilding (27.5km) or 35 minutes drive from Palmerston North (45km). There's no petrol station in Kimbolton, so make sure you fill up before you leave. The drive is a gentle climb through rolling country with sweeping views of farmland and the nearby Ruahine Ranges. It's famous for the rhododendron gardens at Cross Hills Gardens, and is gaining popularity with weekenders who like the charming atmosphere, local craft and healthy food served at Hansen's Cafe.
