The increase in Manawatu-Whanganui’s regional economy and the launch of UCOL’s “Make a Difference” campaign has had a positive impact on student enrolment. Earlier this month UCOL hit a new milestone, crossing the 10,000 student applications for 2018, seven months into the year.
This is 2,000 more applications compared to the last three years, and reflects the strong economy for the region which is growing faster than the national average.
UCOL’s Executive Director of Business Development, Dr. Arthur Chin contributes UCOL’s success to a range of factors, including the development of academic programmes
that address the growing employment trends in the region, the appeal of its marketing campaign to the school and in-work segments, and dedication of Marketing and Registry staff members.
“With an increase in the regional economy comes an increase for trained professionals. At UCOL we provide a range of courses designed with industry and employers that meet the demand of the industry and ensure our students are work ready before they graduate.”
As a result of the rise of applications, enrolments have increased across Level 4 to Level 7 programmes.
At a morning tea celebration with staff members, Dr Chin also added that “our staff are very excited by this milestone. With the regional economy looking to stay just as strong for the next couple of years, we are looking forward to continuing to break this milestone in the future and in making a difference to the lives of New Zealanders”
