UCOL’s Incident Management Team met again this morning to assess the situation in Whanganui following the closure of the Whanganui campus for Wednesday and today.

The Whanganui District Council is hoping to lift all cordons by 11am today. As a result, we are at this stage expecting to re-open UCOL’s Whanganui campus tomorrow morning (Friday 7th April).

The Incident Management Team will continue to monitor the situation and send out a further email to staff and students this afternoon confirming whether the Whanganui campus will be open tomorrow.

The Whanganui District Council has advised that the Whanganui River levels dropped significantly over night and there is no longer a risk of flooding in low lying areas of Whanganui. Evacuated residents and business owners are being allowed back onto their properties this morning.

Students are encouraged to keep an eye on the UCOL Facebook page and the Manawatu-Wanganui Civil Defence Facebook page

Civil Defence advises that you take care while driving. As weather and road conditions can change rapidly, you should check the status of roads before you start your journey. You can call 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49) or visit:
